Job Summary:

A Principal Bridge Engineer is required to join the Guildford Bridges & Civil Structures Team. The individual will need to have excellent technical skills and be a very good communicator to be able to develop a world class team around them building upon the existing skills within the
Team and Business Unit as a whole

Role Responsibilities:

The role will be predominantly technical and the individual will need to have a proven track record in:

1. The analysis of complex bridge structures and be proficient with various software packages and analysis techniques
2. Design of bridges and civil structures in steel and concrete
3. Assessment and design of strengthening solutions to bridge structures
4. Development and mentoring of junior engineers in design and analysis

The individual must have the desire and appropriate skill set to recruit, mentor and challenge junior engineers.

Further aspects of the role include:

1. Leading technical client facing meetings
2. Acting as Team Leader on major infrastructure projects in the UK and Middle East
3. Developing relations with other sectors and regions with a view to assisting them with complex civil structure projects
4. Significant involvement in the delivery of major infrastructure projects in the UK and overseas, including overseas visits when required
5. Technical input into bids
6. Embrace and utilise GEC, including assisting with development of GEC skill sets
7. Design and checking of civil structures on major Highways and Rail projects in the UK and overseas.
8. Feasibility and optioneering of structures.
9. Production / Checking of structural reports including Approval in Principles, Feasibility Reports and Assessment Reports.
10. Assisting with the technical growth and development of the BU as a whole

Requirements:

* Degree in Civil Engineering
* Charted with ICE and or IStructE
* No Visa restrictions to travel and work outside of the UK.
* Strong understanding of DMRB,
* Excellent written English -
* Ability to take the lead in meetings with clients and contractors - strong effective communicator
* Ability and experience to design in all materials
* Experience in the use of ASSHTO LRFD & Eurocodes for the design of bridges.
* Experience and mentoring and a desire to become a Delegated Engineer or SCE
