Young's has over 200 years' experience in the Seafood market and uses more than 30 species which are sourced from 5 continents. Our team takes products from conception through to production and prepares over 300 million seafood dishes for the UK consumer every year inspiring people to eat fish twice a week.
Overall purpose of the role
To control the packaging category, from direct contact with the supplier's all the way through to operations total responsibility end to end for packaging for the site. To manage the provision of inbound packaging to meet the requirements of the manufacturing programme.
Key Accountabilities
* Order and schedule daily and weekly inbound packaging to ensure that materials are made available in a timely manner to meet manufacturing needs.
* Produce a daily and weekly inbound packaging plan and liaise with stores. Produce an updated rolling forecast for all suppliers on a fortnightly basis unless any radical changes affects this detail.
* Ensure that stock levels are tightly controlled within agreed parameters whilst ensuring that write off and service risks are minimised come up with pro-active ways of reducing stock holding across categories to reduce working capital.
* Monitor forth coming planned NPD and promotions and ensure that material is forecasted and available to meet them. Challenge and highlight any issues this may present.
* Manage and actively maintain MFG Pro and Excel based spread-sheets.
* Monitor supplier performance against plan and report on supplier performances to Group Category Manager. Liaise directly with the supplier to improve performance and be responsible for managing ALL of the individual packaging suppliers.
* Highlight any likely write off stocks due to delists/slow sales to Customer Services Manager and Head of Supply Chain and send out weekly report on slow moving / redundant stocks.
* Continually monitor demand against forecasted sales and report any issues to Head of Supply Chain, Customer Services and Group Category Manager on orders which fall outside agreed supply parameters but only after addressing the matter as part of your role.
* Liaise with Group Category Manager on NPD and new commodities to make them fully aware of demand and timelines involved.
* Share responsibility for highlighting and finding solutions with management accounts and production on yield variances.
* Regular dialogue visits from suppliers to monitor perform.
* Co-ordination and maintenance of Creations database for site (P Codes).
Applied Skills, Knowledge, Experience
* Be able to demonstrate a level of competence to take responsibility and accountability for actions
* Experienced material co-ordinator or planner preferably with chilled food experience
* Experienced in supplier relations management
* Good personal organisation and ability to manage with minimum direction
* Very good people and influencing skills
* Working knowledge of MFG PRO
* Ability to challenge and manage suppliers
* Numerate with a good understanding of planning operations and category control
* Proficient with Ms packages particularly Excel and Word
* Willingness to cover for other supply chain roles and work weekends as required
* Team player
