SENIOR BUYER - EDINBURGH UP TO £32000 + BENEFITS
Our client is a global leader in defence electronics and delivers mission critical systems for situational awareness, electronic warfare and surveillance across land, sea and air.
The Procurement function currently has a vacancy for a Senior Buyer within one of the centralised category teams, a role in which the successful applicant will be able to support several key projects across the business.
Reporting to the respective Category Manager, the role requires an attention to detail, the ability to operate effectively with other functions including a diverse group of engineering disciplines and the ability to deliver high quality output within often challenging timescales.
Key Responsibility Areas:
Providing a procurement service to all related projects under the governance of Central Procurement Management.
Managing RFQs, requisitions and PO demand for all mechanical and machined parts
Expediting technical data, resolving supply base queries and problems, managing the live order book on SAP and expediting delivery of material to budget and system requirements.
Continually monitors and reviews progress of procurement work.
Prepares monthly procurement status report such as PIMMS.
Undertake the placement of all procurement commitments by Letter of Intent, ITP, Purchase Orders, Subcontract Documentation or any other form that is indicated. Ensure reduction in the requisition to PO time is kept to a minimum.
Undertake and making sure that all negotiations with the Suppliers are professionally conducted.
Take the lead and manage the Supplier gateways, from selection through a series of performance-based reviews such as Design Reviews, Production Readiness and FAI where required.
You will have an analytical Mind, Numerate with excellent attention to detail.
Good Communication skills (written & oral) and negotiation skills.
You will have the ability to influence both internal and external suppliers.
Candidates will be CIPS or SeiB Trained (or willingness to study for this discipline)
As part of this role you will be expected to travel possibly both in the UK and abroad, you may also be expected to stay overnight as part of this travel. Working to tight deadlines either on a regular or ad hoc basis will be required. Due to the nature of the business candidate must hold a British passport and be eligible for clearance
