THE OPPORTUNITY:
A 9 month contract for an experienced Procurement Manager - Available from January to start work, but will need to be available to interview prior to Christmas. This is working for a well known business in Derbyshire, excellent brand to get on your, with other potential opportunities after your contract finishes.
THE ROLE AND YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES:
-forecasting likely levels of demand for services and products to meet the business needs and keeping a constant check on stock levels to maximise business efficiency;
-conducting research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules and quality;
-liaising between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers;
-identifying potential suppliers, visiting existing suppliers, and building and maintaining good relationships with them;
-negotiating and agreeing contracts and monitoring their progress - checking the quality of service provided;
-processing payments and invoices;
-keeping contract files and using them as reference for the future;
-forecasting price trends and their impact on future activities;
-giving presentations about market analysis and possible growth;
-developing an organisation's purchasing strategy;
-producing reports and statistics using computer software;
-evaluating bids and making recommendations based on commercial and technical factors;
-ensuring suppliers are aware of business objectives;
-attending meetings and trade conferences;
-training and supervising the work of other members of staff
EXPERIENCE SOUGHT IN THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:
Significant experience of negotiating contracts for goods and services.
- Significant experience of assessing pre-qualification and tender submission documents, and managing supplier meetings.
- Good understanding and experience of OJEU procurement legislation.
- Ability to competently write tenders and reports, and to monitor, review and evaluate contracts.
- Strong project management skills.
- Ability to work co-operatively and strategically in a team environment and able to influence business decisions at all levels of seniority.
- Experience of managing procurement over an extended period with evidence of multiple service categories relevant to the client.
- Excellent contract management skills.
- Be Educated to a degree level.
- Ideally be MCIPS qualified.
