General & Merchandise Manager

Our client is a leading, highly successful and profitable new and used jewellery retailer with an enviable track record of growth in recent years. They have over 180 stores across the UK with plans to for more growth in 2014.

They now require a Head of Merchandising to focus on the following 3 keys areas:

1) The management of the day to day running of their Jewellery Centre

The Centre employs approximately 50 staff and through your Operations Manager you will ensure the unit runs effectively - delivering all requirements including stock distribution to stores, audit process and result, logistics KPI`s achievement, process and work flow standards and bullion management.

2) Determine the strategy for disposal of stock and ensure the return is maximized

This role will manage and further develop the company`s retail merchandising function looking at all areas including:

- Analysis of best-selling categories to maximise retail sales
- Analysis of poor selling categories to propose for retail promotions
- Work with Marketing to develop Retail messaging
- Regular review of pricing policy
- Manage store stock replenishment and stock levels
- Continued review of store stock levels / mix
- Continued review of SKU categorisations
- Develop `New` jewellery area in line with company objectives

3) To manage relationships with suppliers and 3rd parties

The successful running of the department function requires the use of a number of key suppliers, therefore this role will require you manage external suppliers to specific SLA`s and cost requirements, identifying and appraising new suppliers where appropriate. You will create, build and manage relationships with current and new suppliers, ensuring positive relationships and best terms.
