International, highly prestigious Defense and Engineering solutions provider currently recruiting for an IT Category Buyer based in Hampshire

This role represents a fantastic opportunity for the right candidates to significantly boost their career. My client is specifically targeting Purchasing Professionals who are hungry for career development and training opportunities - the expectation is that you would be looking to promote to a Procurement Manager position within the first couple of years.

THE ROLE

* Achieving best value across the IT, Telecoms and Professional Services Categories, developing and maintaining a thorough knowledge of the relevant suppliers and markets - you will also have the opportunity to work on projects in other areas and develop your skills in other categories.
* Preparing and leading tenders, negotiating Ts&Cs with suppliers.
* Manage the relevant vendor base including identifying and developing new suppliers, building strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, and supplier rationalisation.
* Work closely with senior purchasing staff and key internal stakeholders to develop robust procurement strategies within the business.

REQUIREMENTS

* The individual must be highly self-motivated and keen to develop their skills and career.
* A CIPS qualification or working towards CIPS would be advantageous; my client will provide ongoing support in your training here.
* Demonstrable procurement experience in any industry background - specifically having covered spends in IT, Telecoms, Networks or Professional Services
* Strong understanding of contractual terms and ability to negotiate Ts&Cs with suppliers.
* Excellent communication skills, able to engage with stakeholders and build strong working relationships.
