Reporting to the Head of Business Development, the main purpose of the role as Development Manager is to lead the development of relationships with key customer accounts; to deliver responses to project briefs and to provide proactive relevant product stimulation grounded in category, customer and consumer insight thus contributing to a deeper understanding of potential product solutions.

Other key aspects of the role include, but are not limited to:
* Working with marketing, packaging, supply and purchasing to develop product solutions that deliver consumer and customer needs including the organisation of product panels, nutritional analysis
* Creating and owning the development plans by account including proactive concept development and high quality responses to specific briefs
* Building good collaborative relationships with retail partners, grounded in trust and accountability
* Setting up, planning and project managing significant business projects and teams against agreed critical paths
* Ensuring product solutions delivering against cost requirements.
* Carrying out factory trials to identify process requirements for new product introduction.
* Effectively managing project risks and lead/influence the business on complex project definition.
* Working with suppliers to identify opportunities for product innovation
* Taking responsibility for Food Safety, Quality and Legality, ensuring arrangements are implemented within all areas of control, internally and externally.
* Being informed of technological, innovation trends, especially in our segment, competitive set, trade customers, equipment and ingredient suppliers and be able to apply to development projects.

Who we're looking for

To be successful in your application for the role of Development Manager, you will be HND/Degree qualified (or equivalent) within a Science, Technology or Engineering discipline. This will coincide with a track record within the food manufacturing industry and retailer facing experience (ideally M&S)
