The purpose of the IT Operational Security team is to facilitate a secure environment to produce a reliable and consistent service and experience to all customers by protecting group information and IT assets against technological threats. Working closely with various parts of IT and SSE to deliver new projects and to resolve production issues, the team is highly focused on the quality and customer experience of what we deliver.

Key accountabilities of the role include:
 Direct involvement in the daily workload of the team and personally responsibility for several aspects of this Owning one or more aspects of incident resolution and root cause analysis as per agreed SLAs Contributing to the production, review and maintenance of team documentation Being responsible for high-profile tasks and/or project delivery, mentoring and guiding junior staff by delegation of work tasks Taking responsibility for specific tasks associated with compliance activities Identifying, planning and implementing improvements and enhancements Owning aspects of the development, documentation and maintenance of standards, strategies and processes Providing technical support and guidance to the Business and other technical teams Acting as an ambassador for SSE's policies, values and culture to other teams and individuals within SSE Mentoring and guiding junior team members to ensure they acquire the required process knowledge Challenging poor process and effectively driving forward the Technical Roadmap Exhibiting role model behaviour and where required and as appropriate, deputising for the Team Leader and Team Manager The successful candidate will:
Have a demonstrable understanding of SSE's business areas, the Energy industry and IT, gained from past experience as well as through social and professional networking Have a strong understanding of the business needs that drive your team's activities Have a systematic, disciplined and analytical approach to problem solving Demonstrate the ability to quickly understand complex technical issues across multiple disciplines Have excellent personal effectiveness and the ability to manage own workload Have very good interpersonal and both written and verbal communication skills Demonstrate a high level of technical experience in the following (ideally encompassing other, related areas of IT to help with cross-team initiatives):

IT security; Firewalls; External DNS; Email Gateways (Ironport); Web Gateways (Ironport); ISA Proxy Servers; 3rd Party Access Configuration; Secureclient Remote Access; Load Balancers; Networking Routing/Topology; Windows OS; ACS; PGP; UNIX OS; Endpoint. Salary: £45,754- £56,600 plus excellent benefits
