With Sheffield Engineering Centre, you will follow a Study Programme tailor made to your needs. You will have the opportunity to develop practical skills in electronics, CAD and joining materials. You will work with national and local companies to solve real life engineering problems. The Study Programme also includes the opportunity to gain work experience, visit companies and to take part in enrichment activities.
Requirements: 16 – 18 years of age.
Training: Level 2 Engineering qualification that could lead onto an Apprenticeship. The qualification will include learning about the engineering world, CAD, machining techniques, Maths for Engineers, electronics, interpreting information, engineering materials, engineering maintenance and health and safety. Functional Skills in Maths and English are available, if you have not achieved GCSE grade C or above in Maths and English. Enrichment activities are available throughout the programme, this gives you the opportunity to broaden your horizons and experience different areas of work. Whilst on the programme you will interact with local and national employers, helping to solve real issues which occur with industrial partners. This interaction with employers gives every student experience of the engineering world of today.
Hours: Attend 3.5 days/week in preparation for employment. Duration up to 2 years.
