BLACK CULTURAL ARCHIVES
Black Cultural Archives (BCA) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced professional, with a proven track record to develop and take forward a dynamic schools, youth and outreach programme.
You will work closely with the Learning Manager, Collections Team and Marketing Manager and internal stakeholders to promote BCA’s learning initiatives, collections and archive, while creating new audiences to engage with our public programmes.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for contributing to the planning, developing, delivering, marketing and evaluating of learning initiatives, primarily focusing on schools, young people and outreach, which fulfill Black Cultural Archives’ access and educational objectives.
Candidates essentially should have:
Proven knowledge and experience of the education system, current OFSTED and government legislation as it relates to the National Curriculum
Proven experience and ability to work with young people across a range of abilities, attitudes, outcomes and settings
Experience of relationship management and outreach with the school, youth and heritage sectors respectively and other formal and informal stakeholder and partner organisations
Excellent knowledge, experience and ability to research and deliver a programme that is both rigorous and creative
Excellent spoken, written and communication skills
About Black Cultural Archives
Black Cultural Archives is a charity and company limited by guarantee dedicated to collecting, preserving and celebrating the history of Black people in the UK. In Spring 2014, we will open the first national Black heritage centre in the UK, in Windrush Square, Brixton. This building development will provide a permanent home for BCA’s collection of historic material with a strong public programme of outreach, exhibitions, education and events relating to Black Britain and the African Diaspora.
SummaryA key member of the Learning Team with a focus on children, young people and families, you will assist the Learning Managers to develop, deliver and evaluate BCA's learning programme in formal and informal settings.
