Profile
We are looking for a Project Manager with an ecommerce Retail background, leading a number of initiatives from front-end design through to supply-chain. This Project Manager will be responsible for a major IT Transformation for one of the core business areas within this high-profile, well-respected retail organisation based in Central London. This is a terrific opportunity for a talented individual to really drive business change through IT Project Management.
Background
This person will have strong analysis and decision making skills. They will be able to adopt a logical, coherent and consistent approach to solving day-to-fay problems using their analysis skills.
They will be influential and able to challenge peers, reports and the leadership team.
This person will be extremely customer focused and likely have worked in a Retail organisation previously.
They will have a collaborative style but also be able to make decisions which constructively influence the success of the project and team objectives.
This individual will have a proven track-record of managing and negotiating with third party suppliers; therefore understanding commercial risk.
They will have man-management responsibility and be comfortable managing in a matrix environment also.
Ideally this person will have a strong academic background (or equivalent).
Responsibilities
Drive the planning process to develop high level plans for the whole project, and mid-level and detailed plans for each stage/workstream, identifying activities, tasks, dependencies and milestones.
Drive the estimating process, supported by leads in the project team, to develop a resource, time and quality estimate, and work with them to define the quality plan for the project. Work with line or resource manager to secure project resources.
Manage tracking of progress (across all teams involved) and budget against plan and take action to minimise slippage, reporting regularly to IT and/or Business management as appropriate.
Identify and manage risks and issues, manage the change control procedure and assess and drive action to mitigate the impact of external change or internal delay on the plan.
Provide effective leadership to the project team, and take appropriate action where project delivery deviates from agreed tolerances.
Work with quality assurance roles outside the project team to promote quality standards and conduct quality reviews of the project.
Carry out project closedown activities, including transition to operations and review.
Ensure that project deliverables are completed within planned cost, timescale and resource budgets and are signed off.
Develop and manage one or more defined communication channels or stakeholder groups, initiating and facilitating open communications and discussion between them, acting as a single point of contact.
Facilitate the business change decision-making processes and the planning and implementation of
change.
