To develop and grow the categories and brands (a power tools range) to achieve significant growth within the group
To develop market and customer insights in order to identify potential new brands and product opportunities
To identify opportunities to improve supplier terms and lead negotiations to reduce costs and improve efficiencies

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
Develop market and customer insights in order to identify potential new brands and product opportunities
To ensure business is first to market with NPD and innovative promotions to fuel business growth
Accountable for cost reduction and margin growth ensuring highly competitive range pricing is achieved. Identify opportunities to improve supplier terms and lead negotiations to reduce costs and improve efficiencies
Ownership and delivery of the business plan for the lighting category. Development and execution of robust product plans from cradle to grave ensuring all key milestones are met to deliver business plan
Superior influencing and communication required across the business to ensure that cross functional teams e.g. sales, marketing and distribution are equipped and motivated to drive the category forward
Collaboration and team work to share and develop ideas and build on those of others
Deliver results through team motivation and development, demonstrating natural leadership
Strong people manager with demonstrable skills in developing and coaching others to develop leaders of the future
DIFFICULTIES AND DEMANDS OF THE ROLE
Key challenges include project planning and communication with wider business regarding the status of range development and the market potential for new products and stock availability
Typical issues requiring resolution include delays to critical paths, complex suppler negotiations with Chinese suppliers and pressure to deliver to tight timescales
Problems are resolved by taking a proactive approach and by keeping all stakeholders informed of progress proposing contingencies where appropriate and seeking support from wider business
