The Trust's Addiction and Offender Care Directorate is one of the largest substance misuse treatment service in Europe, has a range of drug and alcohol treatment services across 7 London boroughs and provides mental health and substance misuse services to three prisons. This post is to work in a new and exciting partnership between CNWL and Central London Community Healthcare to deliver a comprehensive healthcare service within the HMP Wormwood Scrubs.
You will have worked as a healthcare assistant as part of a team for 1 year. The post incorporates preventative healthcare and harm reduction to substance misusers. The healthcare assistant in substance misuse will be committed to the delivery of the highest standards of evidence based treatment interventions for male adults with drug and alcohol dependency. By demonstrating skills and knowledge the post holder will contribute to the growth and maintenance of the key functions of the clinical area, by carrying out assigned tasks involving direct and indirect care to service users, under minimal supervision and as directed by the nurse in charge.
You will need to be able to pass prison security checks as well as the usual employment checks.
HMP Wormwood Scrubs is a category B Male Victorian Prison comprising of five residential wings, a segregation unit, first night centre and reception area, day care area and residential detoxification unit. There is also an onsite pharmacy department. Each area has a group of dedicated healthcare staff committed to improving services and delivery of healthcare to prisoners with a range of complex health problems and diverse ethnic backgrounds. CNWL have been developing and delivering general adult mental health services within the Offender Health Service within HMP Wormwood Scrubs since 2004. In 2011 we will be expanding our provision to include all IDTS services and the 17-beded Mental Health unit, in addition to our Community Mental Health team and Learning Disability Service.
