My client is a FTSE 100 Building Products Supplier/Manufacturer who require a Quality Assurance Technologist based in Northampton
Role description:
The successful Quality Assurance Technologist will ensure that Products & Suppliers within the assigned product category comply with the Groups Quality, Safety and Environmental requirements and UK/European legislation. In addition,you will ensure that product information and communication is technically correct and complies with legal requirements.
Specific responsibilities include:
* Responsible for Building Products evaluation and approval within assigned category, including risk assessment and benchmarking processes, to ensure that only compliant product (Safe, Legal, Reliable and Fit-for-Purpose) enter the business. Including liaising with QC Colleagues for the inspection at Goods-Inwards and providing guidance as required.
* To ensure all non-compliance issues are effectively dealt with and appropriate remedial action taken through direct contact with the Supplier prior to product approval and to communicate any required improvements to colleagues in a timely manner.
* Ensure accuracy of product certification, specification data and product literature provided by Suppliers and maintain technical files to the required level of detail and content for Own Brand and Direct Import products as part of the evaluation and approval process.
* Carry out supplier assessments and approvals as appropriate, including the assessment of associated manufacturing sites for quality, environmental, H&S and ethical in line with the company policy, and to ensure all non-compliance issues are effectively dealt with and appropriate remedial action is taken in a timely manner. Based in Northampton there will be a requirement to travel to Contract Manufacturers where appropriate.
Who we're looking for:* Ideally Professional/Technical Qualification in an appropriate field (Degree equivalent) I.e. Chartered Engineer. Diploma Quality Management or relevant job related experience. In addition, experiences as a Quality Assurance Technologist with exposure to Building Products Manufacturing would be highly regarded.
* In-depth knowledge of QA Practices and Methodology.
* In-depth detailed knowledge of British & European product safety & technical standards and associated compliance certification.
* Detailed knowledge of product legislation and Environmental impact.
* Detailed practical experience of factory manufacturing processes and best practice.
* Resilience in following through business critical issues.
* Persuasive approach to problem solving at all levels.
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Good interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to a broad spectrum of individuals.
* Well organised with the ability to plan workload to achieve deadlines.
* Good numeracy skills and conversant in Word and Excel. Based in Northampton, you must be willing to travel as per role requirements.
