This is a supervisory role in the accounting team which is fully responsible for the management accounting function and its associated reporting across the defined business units of Marketing and SG&A costs.
Responsible for management accounting function and reporting structure for Marketing and SG&A Costs (HR and payroll, Technology, Facilities, Finance and Legal) across the 8 ebookers entities in Europe.
Lead a team of 2 trainee management accountants
Review and post journal entries for entry into the financial accounting system (Oracle)
Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations within required SOX deadlines, ensuring any issues are followed up and resolved
Review and prepare commentary on variances against forecast/prior month for P&L/Balance Sheet for reporting packs
Hold monthly meetings with business partners to review monthly figures and support them with ad hoc queries, keeping up to date with developments in the business that may impact the accounting function
Review payroll journals prepared by outsourced payroll company to ensure completeness and accuracy, working closely with Payroll Manager to resolve any issues.
Manage monthly payroll recharges with other Orbitz entities.
Assist outsourced banking and accounts payable teams with queries
Support FP&A with structured information required for forecasting and analyzing expenses
Approve from a finance perspective any business contracts relating to marketing or SG&A
Ensure that the accounting entries are supported by standard processes which are in line with accounting guidelines.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
Qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with at least 2 years PQE as a Management Accountant in a fast moving organisation
Ability to work independently and be accountable for area of responsibility
Staff management and mentoring experience
First rate analytical skills supported by the ability to review reporting and challenge financial data where necessary
Ability to review end to end processes and to identify opportunities for improvement and develop accordingly
Experience of month close processes within an international company (reporting packs, balance sheet reconciliations, balance sheet and P&L-review)
Excellent working knowledge of Excel.
Desirable
Experience with external audits and internal SOX control and audit
Experience of working with Oracle Financials.
Experience of forecasting
